Printed and fired onto the finished glaze at a lower temperature. Choose it when colour matters more than wear resistance.

How it wears
The least durable of the three. It is a surface treatment: with repeated dishwasher use it will gradually wear and lose density. Hand washing extends its life considerably.
A very slight raised edge where the decal meets the glaze.
What it cannot do
- Long-term machine washing will wear this mark down. This is a property of the method, not a fault, and it is not covered as a defect.
- Adds one kiln cycle to the lead time.
- Not suitable for the interior surfaces of pieces that hold food or drink.
- Metallic lustre finishes within a decal make the piece unsuitable for microwave use.
